Question : Mr. Minto, If I am not mistaken, I met you in 1976 or 1977 in Washington, DC along with your family members while you are visiting Mr. Mohammad Bhuiya. I am happy to know you are trying to be a candidate for Mayor of Dhaka City Corp.and you have big agenda. I wish you all the best. I do have a question: Have you done anything for the people of Feni. I am sure you have. May be we just don't know. If so, I appreciate it.Is there any way we also can join with you for the betterment of the people of Feni such as establishing a foundation like Feni Foundation who can help the young children who can get better eduction through this foundation. Last time I went to Feni, I have seen a lot of children are dropping out of school. A proud son as well as great acheiver of Feni District such as yourself can definitely make a big difference for the people of Feni. Please let me know if anything at all can be done.Once as you know people of Feni were way ahead of the People of other District in all respect. Now we are watching Bangladeshi TV and witnessing other way around. Thanks for your time. May Allah bless you all. Gias

Answer : Thank you for your query – as this has nothing to do with the Dhaka City Mayor campaign. However, I think it is not wise that I should tell what I have been doing for Feni. Since you are also from Feni you can ask anyone from Feni to know about my efforts towards socio-economic development of Feni.

Question : It's very common that every candidate for mayor will focus on the problems of Dhaka city and they will also make promise to remove those. Candidates for mayor will assure them, give them hope. it's a very common strategy! Then what should a candidate of Mayor do? i guess he/she should focus on a define age group for casting their vote. In my opinion, as 40% of the Dhaka city's inhabitants are young aged group (20-35 years, like college & University students, young job holder, house wives etc) and they will drive the wining post. I guess to win the race, a mayor candidate should implement some strategy to get the vote of young aged group. My question is "To what extent you can convince the young aged group of voter to cast their vote for you?" and "Why you are the best candidate for Dhaka city then any other candidate?" Ehtesham Reza, University Graduate Student. (Willing to join in your Campaign actively for Motivating the Young voter)

Answer :

a) Thank you for your interest and willingness to work in the future mayoral election campaign.

b) I fully agree with you that we have to motivate young men and women, housewives, students, as well as people who are blind to party support and never bother to differentiate between candidates.

c) What we have to convince people is that giving or taking responsibility is not enough in itself because whoever is getting responsibility or trying to get responsibility must have the ability to solve the problem. Hence if someone has the ability to solve problem and get responsibility, only that person will be able to solve the problem.

d) My election campaign office will communicate with you in near future and I hope you will join the campaigning as soon as we can start.

Question : What is your dream about Dhaka that people will vote for you??........mOHOn.......
07-Mar-2009    by: mohon0027@yahoo.com
Answer : One cannot achieve without having a dream. My dream is to make Dhaka a livable city; a city where people can commute safely and quickly; a city where there will be less pollution, less traffic jams; a city where the quality of education and healthcare is acceptable; and where there is quality drinking water. While developing Dhaka, I do not want to lose the charm of our 400-year-old city. I plan to promote and preserve heritage/cultural sites and make Dhaka artsy, greener, and cleaner. In short, I dream of modernizing Dhaka while retaining its beauty and cultural heritage.

Question : how you can develop dhaka city? , i mean you in bnp ticket holder , new government is lig /i think so maney problem in your wprk . plz answer
05-Mar-2009    by: lesssoni@yahoo.com
Answer : Thank you for your question. It is indeed a complex one. Please find my response below. Firstly, the Mayoral post is a non-partisan (party) post. Secondly, until now I have never said that BNP will support my candidature. However, being a member of BNP, I do not rule out such support. Personally, I think there is a misconception that the Mayor has to be from the ruling party. These are two different tiers of government. Each tier has specific responsibilities and duties under law. They are not meant to be at loggerheads with each other, nor do the Mayor and Members of Parliament from Dhaka have overlapping duties. The local government laws are very clear-cut. I believe the main issue is not who is in the government but the ability of the Mayor to run the city in accordance with the local government ordinance. I truly believe the laws are strong enough to allow the Mayor to carry out his duties and responsibilities in a manner where there is no conflict with the national government. Dhaka needs a Mayor who should be well versed in the duties of the office and knowledgeable in good governance, which I am.

Question : Assalamu Alaikum Hope you keeping well. I've read some books written by you. Sir I have a simple query to you Query: Amongst the established businessman in Bangladesh you name is frequently uttered. Do you have plan to invest outside Dhaka i.e. in Khulna city. There is a good prospect to make a good business in Khulna and Khulna City will revive if some prominent businessman like you become intended to invest apart from Dhaka. It is our utmost responsibility to release Dhaka city from great danger. For Planned Decentralization it is also required to invest in those regions that are relatively less not blessed with both domestic and international investment. Sincerely Yours Md.
